How can they say that?!

What is a news story? Who decides what is of interest? Does the media 'takes sides', or do certain journalists have 'an agenda'?

These are all questions that researchers and specialists have from time to time and can be the source of a lot of anxiety. They are also issues we at Paterson Communications are keen to address on an individual basis, depending on where that anxiety lies.

One of the issues that consistently comes up, however, is a fear that a journalist 'might get it wrong'.

In this case, we have a potentially unpopular opinion: what if the fault wasn't with the journalist? What if your messaging wasn't very clear. Did you hammer home the main points, or did you skirt around an issue, leaving room for ambiguity?

Knowing what you want to say is just as important than having the knowledge in the first place. It helps you and the journalist by making your communications easier to convey and to follow.
